Learner Led Conference - Nabila & Hakeem

This morning I attended Learner Led Conference at Nabila & Hakeem school. Learner Led Conference (LLC) allow parents to discover what the child learn at school. I had 40min sessions for each of my children.

During LLC Nabila n Hakeem showed n shared their works of what they learned at school. They were in charged during the session n the teacher was just standing far to facilitate. This is their second year at the school n I had attended their LLC last year. So more or less I’ve already anticipated what to come.

I started with Hakeem. Hakeem is doing well in his class. He is a creative boy with lots of imaginations. He used lots of unexpected vocabulary in his sentence. I am just not happy with his handwriting. Macam rojak.. If he is in a good mood he can write beautifully or else nobody could understand what he wrote.

Hakeem can also sometimes got frustrated n blew up if he couldn’t do something especially in Numeracy. He took it very determined n seriously which if he couldn’t do it he will get very upset n sometimes cried. Hmmm… mcm sape tu? Kakak2 dia kut… it runs in the blood der….. Apart from that he is a jovial n happy boy with always a big smile on his face.

As for Nabila she is doing extremely well. I’ve got nothing much to test or ask her. I just sat n listened to her explanations n presentations. As I went thru her portfolios of all her workbooks, my little girl is a very hardworking n no nonsense type person. She wrote very impressive stories n all her works were neatly done.

After attended both sessions of their classes I went to see their Bahasa Malaysia teacher. Nabila & Hakeem started to learn speak BM for the last couple years. They can now understand when people talk to them (but not too fast). Both of them speak Bahasa to my maid which actually that is where they started to speak.

So the rest you can imagine. Their Bahasa semua dah bunyi mcm Indonesia. There was one time when Hakeem came to my room knocked n said “Buk… permisi buk… bole saya masuk?” Hahahahaha…I am now slowly teaching them to speak the right way. They normally did a direct translation like Hakeem always said “Kak Karsih.. tolong buat susu sikit panas” “Wah hebatnya.. mari mari lihat ini”

Hakeem is more eager to learn n speak where else Nabila only speaks if she feels she needs to. But surprisingly Nabila can speaks good Bahasa. Anyway their BM teacher said they are doing great in their classes.

After that I went to their music session n Nabila showed me what she learned during her music lesson. I also have spoken to their Agama teacher n got a good feedback too from the Ustaz.

That’s the end of my half day. I am happy n proud with both of their progress n always hope n pray that they will sustain n succeed in their next years to come.

The Engagement Ceremony - My Brother Nadmin

I was in Alor Setar last weekend to attend my brother’s engagement ceremony. The ceremony was on Sunday afternoon. I arrived in Alor Setar on Saturday afternoon. I’ve managed to finish with all the decorations of the hantaran before went back there. Huh… finally...

So on the day arrived I made the final touched up with my aunty. Well.. after all ready it was not so bad though.. Hasil kerja keras tanganku.. something that I should be proud of.. my achievement.. :)

On the Saturday morning all of us gathered for the small kenduri doa selamat. We departed from home at 11.30 n arrived punctually at 12noon as scheduled. My uncle was the spokesperson for the ceremony. After about 15minutes discussing n both parties agreed with the arrangement, officially my brother got engaged!

I was given the honor to put on the ring to my future sister in-law, Marina. She got two rings – merisik & bertunang. She looked so lovely n happy.

Alhamdullilah the ceremony went well. I am so happy n pleased that at last my brother got engaged. I could also see the happiness on everybody’s face at that time. My hubby n daughter said they felt so touched when they saw me putting on the ring n hugged Marina.

I just wish that my mom is still around to see all this. I am sure she will be very happy. Congratulations to my dearest brother Nadmin. Insyallaah the big day will be on September.

The Swimming Gala

Yesterday my two little children – Nabila & Hakeem had the Swimming Gala at their school. Each of them took three events.

Nabila got 1st place in noodle race event n 2nd place in back float event. She was not very confident actually in doing the back float. In the morning while getting ready to school she wanted to pull out from the event. She was scared that she couldn’t do it. After gotten the second place I am sure she’s happy n gain more confident.

As for Hakeem, last year he was the water phobia. He didn’t even want to go into the pool. But this year Hakeem is the proud of his mommy. He started his first event in star float. He actually has to breathe inside the water n float at the same time. Whoever got to breath longer will be the winner. Hakeem was breathless at the first stage but manage to do it a few minutes.

Hakeem’s second event was deep dive collect. This was very easy for him. Both of them later on took the relay event represented their team color.

The swimming gala started at 9.30 n ended around 11.15. The weather was very hot n getting hotter in the afternoon. Nabila n Hakeem were very flat tired after came back from school. Anyway well done to both of them!

The Best Arabic Food In Town

I’ve been very very busy nowadays. On Sunday evening my aunty came down from Kedah. He settled in at the hotel n I went to visit her as she brought our favourite nasi royale mamak.. It’s all the way from Kedah… yuhuuu.

Then I was busy preparing the hantaran for my brother’s engagement. Lots of hiccup during the process, kerja banyak sangkut2 so tak setel2 lagi ni.. On Monday night we brought my uncle, aunty, cousins to eat Arabic food. We went again to Al-Rawsha located at Jalan Damai, Ampang.

The last time we went there we loved the food so much. So this time we came again to introduce the place to my aunty. The Mandi Rice is so yummy n everyone should try this when comes here.

I’ve tried eating once at Tarbush Restaurant at Jalan Bukit Bintang. This place is more presentable n high-style compare to Al-Rawsha. Al-Rawsha’s ambience is more friendly where else in Tarbush u have to behave yourself to eat there.. hehehehhehe.. As for the food, I still prefer at Al-Rawsha.

Recently we tried the newly opened Arabic restaurant in Shah Alam – Sahara Tent which located at Plaza Masalam. The place looked so ‘middle east’ n nice but the food was a totally disappointed to me. The Mandi Rice was so dry n the hummus so tasteless. Furthermore they serve the cold bread which I have to ask them to pre-heat. What disappointed us more there is no shawarma there!

I know there are many other more Arabic restaurant in town especially along Jalan Damai, Ampang. You can find all kind of cuisines from Middle East – Lebanese, Syrian n more but I would still prefer in Al-Rawsha.

My Mom's Wish

My youngest brother finally told us that he wants to get married. All of our family always asked him before this when he wants to get married as he is now 30years old. Finally hati dia terbuka agaknya.. My recent trip back to Alor Setar was to meet our future new member in the family.

My late mom was very close to my youngest brother as he is the only one who stayed with her as the others working in KL. My mom told my brother, kept telling actually that if he wants to find a wife – find a teacher (preferable graduated with a Degree).

My bro kept her word n he found a teacher specifically like my mom asked him too. Though my mom is not around anymore I am sure if she knows about this she will be proud n smiling at him. My dearest mom probably knew that she won’t be around when my bro is getting married, already prepared n bought an engagement n wedding diamond rings long time ago before she passed away. I guess perhaps she bought those since my brother was in secondary school.

Being the eldest n the only girl in the family my mom asked me to keep the rings. I in fact have forgotten how the rings look like until I took it out to have a look at it. The rings are so beautiful which to me it looks so classic n it really suits my mom’s future daughter in-law.

Except that the ring that my mom bought are too big. Probably my mom thought that my bro will get married dgn org montel2..Anyway I’ve gone to the shop to get the rings adjusted. This coming Sunday is the engagement ceremony. I am now preparing all the hantaran to be given to the girl’s side. Tak ah terror n berbakat pun but boleh lah…

I wish my mom is still around. I am sure she will be the busiest person preparing all of this like what she did to all of us when we got married. My dad just talked to me this afternoon about my bro E-day n all of us are looking forward to it.

As for my broken hand phone he also replaced it with oh the so nice one. Probably not really suite with my day of life but who cares right? And I so love it..

With all of this I would like to say again Thank You my dearest hubby…. I love you…

Couldn't Say NO To Seafood

I love seafood. I am actually allergic to seafood when I was young – probably at the age of 8. Whenever I ate prawns, squids or crabs I will started scratching all my body. I had the itchiness all over my body n the rashes n reddish that called kelopak garam appeared all over me. Sometimes my eyes n lips swelled.

Since that I slowly stopped eating seafood. After years stopped when I was teenager I tried again n I intermittently had the itchiness. Stubbornly n couldn’t resist the temptation I just eat whenever I wanted to n don’t care about having the swollen face. I don’t know how but after a while it seems that the allergic just went off till now.

The best seafood place that I’ve eaten was in Kota Kinabalu. The seafood there was so fresh n they cooked n served it deliciously. You can just eat the seafood itself like that without any rice. No wonder there were many tourist from overseas like Japan, China or Korea came to KK just to eat the seafood.

Seafood in East Malaysia is different from here in West. I’ve seen different kinds of snail which I didn’t dare to try n also the soft shell crab. Probably we could find in some restaurant here in KL but in West Malaysia is more famous n saleable. Likewise in East Malaysia most of the restaurant now sells kingcrab (belangkas). Some say it is so tasty but I just don’t dare to try it too.

During our recent trip to Kuching we went to the famous seafood place called TopSpot. It is located on the top ground of the parking lot building. Over here u can see rows of halal seafood restaurant. Excitedly we ordered big freshly prawns, soft shell crab n fish. Not to forget also our favourite local vegetable MIDIN goreng belacan. Ni memang ditunggu tunggu…

There were lots of people probably local n also tourist. The price was not so bad n all of us eat till we drop. Hahahaha.. Giler betul makan ikut nafsu….

Whenever I go back to Kedah I like to eat seafood at Kuala Kedah n sometimes drive to Kuala Perlis. Well.. talking about eating especially seafood will never be end of story. Maybe one day I will make a trip to KK again just to eat the seafood!
