The Weekend

Last weekend I was in Malacca – balik kampung. On the way back home my SIL informed that she gonna have a birthday party for her children, Maisarah & Uzma.

Unfortunately on Saturday her little one – Huda was admitted to the hospital. She was having diarrhea n vomiting. My SIL was about to cancel but all of us told her to proceed as Maisarah n Uzma were already excited knowing that they will have their birthday on Sunday.

So as planned, we had a party for the two birthday girls. Maisarah n Uzma were so excited n happy especially with the cousins around. After blowing candle n cutting cake, both of them just couldn’t wait to open their presents.

Happy birthday to Maisarah (5 years) n Uzma (4 years). Stay cute!

Room on the Broom

This week is the last week of term 2 for my children’s school. They will be having two weeks break next week. How time flies very fast. I feel it is just a while that all of them started their new year of schooling.

Nadira just finished her 2nd term exam n now busying with her sports day where as this week at Nabila, Hakeem school are having a book week. There is a reading workshop n they have to bring their books to read n share with their classmates.

Last week Nabila performed a show titled The Gruffalo n this week, today was Hakeem’s. It is a story adapted from a book – Room on the Broom. Hakeem has been selected to be a red dragon. As usual Hakeem is good on stage. He acted confidently n said out loud the scripts.

This coming Friday they have a book character parade. They have to dress up as a book character. I actually don’t want to spend any money on buying costumes for this parade. Maybe I’ll think of something that they already have in the closet.

Aku Sepasang Kasut

I still remember during school days that I always have to write a karangan about “aku sebatang pen” or “aku sepasang kasut”. What I am gonna tell here is about what happened yesterday during LLC at my children’s school. Sesuatu yang tak disangka.. seringkali mendatangi kita.. Beginilah kisahnya – AKU SEPASANG KASUT.

Huh… hancur karangan. Kalau lah tahun ni ambik SPM sure tak pass!! Well.. that what happened yesterday. The shoe had been stored for so long. Probably due to the weather, humidity dalam diam2 dalam kasut tu hancur n rosak.

Seriously I felt so embarrassed. I don’t know who else notice it but I am sure the two cleaners knew about it. Hahahahahaha…. Aduh... memang malu..

Learner Led Conference - Nabila & Hakeem

This morning I attended Learner Led Conference at Nabila & Hakeem school. Learner Led Conference (LLC) allow parents to discover what the child learn at school. I had 40min sessions for each of my children.

During LLC Nabila n Hakeem showed n shared their works of what they learned at school. They were in charged during the session n the teacher was just standing far to facilitate. This is their second year at the school n I had attended their LLC last year. So more or less I’ve already anticipated what to come.

I started with Hakeem. Hakeem is doing well in his class. He is a creative boy with lots of imaginations. He used lots of unexpected vocabulary in his sentence. I am just not happy with his handwriting. Macam rojak.. If he is in a good mood he can write beautifully or else nobody could understand what he wrote.

Hakeem can also sometimes got frustrated n blew up if he couldn’t do something especially in Numeracy. He took it very determined n seriously which if he couldn’t do it he will get very upset n sometimes cried. Hmmm… mcm sape tu? Kakak2 dia kut… it runs in the blood der….. Apart from that he is a jovial n happy boy with always a big smile on his face.

As for Nabila she is doing extremely well. I’ve got nothing much to test or ask her. I just sat n listened to her explanations n presentations. As I went thru her portfolios of all her workbooks, my little girl is a very hardworking n no nonsense type person. She wrote very impressive stories n all her works were neatly done.

After attended both sessions of their classes I went to see their Bahasa Malaysia teacher. Nabila & Hakeem started to learn speak BM for the last couple years. They can now understand when people talk to them (but not too fast). Both of them speak Bahasa to my maid which actually that is where they started to speak.

So the rest you can imagine. Their Bahasa semua dah bunyi mcm Indonesia. There was one time when Hakeem came to my room knocked n said “Buk… permisi buk… bole saya masuk?” Hahahahaha…I am now slowly teaching them to speak the right way. They normally did a direct translation like Hakeem always said “Kak Karsih.. tolong buat susu sikit panas” “Wah hebatnya.. mari mari lihat ini”

Hakeem is more eager to learn n speak where else Nabila only speaks if she feels she needs to. But surprisingly Nabila can speaks good Bahasa. Anyway their BM teacher said they are doing great in their classes.

After that I went to their music session n Nabila showed me what she learned during her music lesson. I also have spoken to their Agama teacher n got a good feedback too from the Ustaz.

That’s the end of my half day. I am happy n proud with both of their progress n always hope n pray that they will sustain n succeed in their next years to come.

The Engagement Ceremony - My Brother Nadmin

I was in Alor Setar last weekend to attend my brother’s engagement ceremony. The ceremony was on Sunday afternoon. I arrived in Alor Setar on Saturday afternoon. I’ve managed to finish with all the decorations of the hantaran before went back there. Huh… finally...

So on the day arrived I made the final touched up with my aunty. Well.. after all ready it was not so bad though.. Hasil kerja keras tanganku.. something that I should be proud of.. my achievement.. :)

On the Saturday morning all of us gathered for the small kenduri doa selamat. We departed from home at 11.30 n arrived punctually at 12noon as scheduled. My uncle was the spokesperson for the ceremony. After about 15minutes discussing n both parties agreed with the arrangement, officially my brother got engaged!

I was given the honor to put on the ring to my future sister in-law, Marina. She got two rings – merisik & bertunang. She looked so lovely n happy.

Alhamdullilah the ceremony went well. I am so happy n pleased that at last my brother got engaged. I could also see the happiness on everybody’s face at that time. My hubby n daughter said they felt so touched when they saw me putting on the ring n hugged Marina.

I just wish that my mom is still around to see all this. I am sure she will be very happy. Congratulations to my dearest brother Nadmin. Insyallaah the big day will be on September.

The Swimming Gala

Yesterday my two little children – Nabila & Hakeem had the Swimming Gala at their school. Each of them took three events.

Nabila got 1st place in noodle race event n 2nd place in back float event. She was not very confident actually in doing the back float. In the morning while getting ready to school she wanted to pull out from the event. She was scared that she couldn’t do it. After gotten the second place I am sure she’s happy n gain more confident.

As for Hakeem, last year he was the water phobia. He didn’t even want to go into the pool. But this year Hakeem is the proud of his mommy. He started his first event in star float. He actually has to breathe inside the water n float at the same time. Whoever got to breath longer will be the winner. Hakeem was breathless at the first stage but manage to do it a few minutes.

Hakeem’s second event was deep dive collect. This was very easy for him. Both of them later on took the relay event represented their team color.

The swimming gala started at 9.30 n ended around 11.15. The weather was very hot n getting hotter in the afternoon. Nabila n Hakeem were very flat tired after came back from school. Anyway well done to both of them!
