The Natrah Theatre

Last night I went to Istana Budaya to watch the theatre Natrah. Last night was supposed to be the last day n my cousin booked the tickets a week ago. We got the sit on the upper level. Though we got the full view of the stage but I can hardly recognize the faces except from their voices. Maklum lah.. rabun..

The show was superb. There were a few scenes that really touched me. This story is about the tragic tale of Nadra Maarof, also known by her Dutch name Bertha Heartogh, who passed away earlier this year. She was raised in Malaysia by her Malay foster mother before a custody dispute between her foster parents and her Dutch birth parents saw her getting sent her back to Holland.

It also revealed how a parental custody battle exploded into a tense and bitter tussle between Islam and Christianity, between Malayan nationalists and colonialists.

Thumbs up to Erma Fatima n the team. Maya Karin played Natrah role well. She looked so cute as Natrah. And also not to forget Abang Mansor Adabi played by Remy Ishak who surprised me that he has a good voice which I guess made all the girls there drooled n stunned for a while .
